January has finally come to a close. This means 2 things: I have to reassess my budget and pay all my bills for the next month, and I get to look back and see home much my efforts paid off last month. I have been very enthusiastic about my earnings for January because I expanded my earning methods. I started working on new angles and diversified my streams of income (which I keep reading is best) lol.

Biggest Changes Last Month
I spent a lot of January trying to really turn my blogging into a profit generating business. I researched different advertising methods, and reached out to find some direct advertising, and sponsorship for different blog posts I had already written.
One of my most read and shared posts, since it was published, is about Avon. I talk about whether it is worth it to start selling. I don’t sell Avon anymore, and I know that there were a lot of women reading that post, and wanting to sign under me. These were quality leads that weren’t going anywhere. So, I decided to find a worthy Avon lady who would be willing to pay for her sign-up link to be included in the post. It was a win-win for us both.
I actually found an affiliate site that was geared towards women and moms. I absolutely love it! Moms Affiliate in not overly picky on who is allowed to apply but once you apply, you have to meet certain traffic requirements that advertisers set. I have multiple blogs and sites, so I just pick the one that meets the traffic requirement and fits with the product/post/tweet. I made $50 last month from one sponsored post that I published on my Hubpages account. I would have added it on Momma Loves Money, but my traffic wasn’t high enough.
Sponsored tweets are available but they go very, very fast. There has never been one open any time I have logged on. Other options include affiliate sales, giveaways/sweepstakes, coupons, and lead generating banners. I see this becoming one of my favorite sites to work with. It doesn’t even give me a headache trying to navigate! If you sign up here, I even make $2!
Media.net is a new advertising network I am using. Unlike Google Adsense, they pay per impression instead of per click. That means that for every 1000 people who see these ads, I make a certain amount. This is perfect for one of my sites, because it gets a ton of traffic (in comparison to my others). That site is for made for soldiers as an informational hub, so it is not really geared towards ad clicks. But, with my 100k+ page views every month, I think it may be profitable.
The reason I really love using a mix of Adsense and Media.net is that they look nothing alike. Media.net allows you to make the ads look just like a part of your site. You can put them under your navigation or in you sidebar and the blend right in with the color and format.
I Started my Own Business!
I have definitely not seen a profit from this yet but I know I will. I finally bit the bullet and started a home-based cleaning business called Maid on the Gulf. I live on the Gulf of Mexico, so I thought the name was fitting. lol I spent January getting it legal with $100 of taxes and business name registration.
I know my February expenses are going to be higher because I have already started investing in cleaning supplies, and building my business website. But, as I sit here and write this on February 5th, I have already provided service for one client. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this goes and will eventually write a blog post about how I started my business and what I had to do. If it turns out to be a flop, I at least finally splurged, and got an awesome Dyson vacuum while it was on sale for $200 less than normal price!
Well, that wraps up my earning and expenses report for January 2015. If you are a WAHM, how did your month go? Feel free to link to your earnings reports in the comments section. This way, all the mommies reading this can see how home-based earnings can vary GREATLY. Have a great February!
