What is Ibotta and how Does it Work?

Some of my favorite coupon matchups sites have started including Ibotta rebates in their weekly deals posts. Ibotta is great for couponers and even standard, normal shoppers. You don’t have to go couponing to use this app, but it can add on to your coupon savings.

What is Ibotta and How Does it Work?

Ibotta is a tablet and smartphone app that can be downloaded on iPhones and Androids. It contains many money-saving offers from well-known brands and products. You can unlock rebates by doing quick tasks like learning facts, watching videos and taking surveys. Once you have purchased the product, you simply take a picture of your receipt showing your purchase and scan the item.

How to Use Ibotta

1. Unlock Rebates: Choose your favorite rebates and unlock them by completing tasks. Tasks don’t take long; usually just a few clicks. Tasks include things like sharing on Twitter, answering polls, watching a video, or reading some facts about the product. Once you unlock a task, it still will expire. So, make sure you pay attention to the dates.

2.Shop & Redeem: After shopping, tap on Redeem to verify your purchases. All you have to do is tap the item you want to redeem in the app, scan the barcode, and then take a picture of the receipt. If you have multiple items on the receipt, you just select them and scan them all, and then upload the receipt. If the store is an Ibotta Preferred Partner (listed in pink below), it’s even easier. At checkout, just make sure to use your loyalty card or provide a phone number, and the app will do the rest.

3. Get Cash: The best part about Ibotta is that you earn real money, not points or other BS. 100% of your earnings can be transferred to PayPal or Venmo as soon as you’ve earned $5. You can also trade your earnings for a gift card at a minimum of $5. But, I love cold hard cash.

Ibotta works in over 80 retail chains, restaurants, movie theaters, convenience stores, home improvement centers, pet stores, and pharmacies nationwide.
